Sun, sun, sunny, sunny. Did you know the average American child doesn't know what a sun is? OK, not really but something close to that. I think that the computer is addictive- very addictive. But it doesn't beat going outside and getting some fresh air, does it? I (Jess) love dancing in the rain, and climbing trees. I think it's a lot funner than being cooped up in a house with only screens (computer, video games, TV) to play with. Anyway, why are you reading this? You SHOULD be outside running around. But hmmm... maybe you don't have any games to play. No worries. Here you can stock up on fun easy games to play outside with your friends. =D

OUTSIDE GAMES:
Duck duck goose! (LOL) I think everyone knows how to play this one, but if for some strange reason you don't, here's the instructions:

In this game, kids sit down in a circle facing each other. One person is "it" and walks around the circle. As they walk around, they tap people's heads and say whether they are a "duck" or a "goose". Once someone is the "goose" they get up and try to chase "it" around the circle. The goal is to tap that person before they are able sit down in the "goose's" spot. If the goose is not able to do this, they become "it" for the next round and play continues. If they do tap the "it" person, the person tagged has to sit in the center of the circle. Then the goose become it for the next round. The person in the middle can't leave until another person is tagged and they are replaced.

Hide and seek! Again, who doesn't know how to play this game? But here's the directions, just in case:
Select an area in which to play the game. Designate a specific area with clear boundaries. Have everyone gather around a tree or other landmark, which will be "home base." Close your eyes (no peeking!) and count to 10 or 20 or whatever number seems appropriate based on the ages of the children playing. Make sure that the rest of the players hide while you are counting. Call out, "Ready or not here I come," when you are finished counting. Go and look for the other players. Be alert, because, as you are searching, the others are trying to run to home base.Try to find and touch, or "tag," the hidden players. Forget about the players who get to home base without being tagged, because they are "safe." Remember the first player you tag. That person will be It in the next round. Be It again if you don't tag any of the players and they all get home safe.

Do a scavenger hunt!!!
Make a list of random objects or animals such as blue jay, oak tree, stag beetle, etc. Give the list to everyone who's playing and then let everyone find all the items in a certain time period (hour, half an hour, fifteen min, etc. Depending on how many items are on the list). Whoever find the most items when the time is up is the winner!

Players form a circle with one player in the middle (it). The middle person must approach players in the circle and ask, "Honey, do you love me?" The person being questioned must answer, "Honey, I love you but I just can't smile." If s/he does smile or laugh, s/he becomes "it" and the previous middle person joins the circle. The person who is "it" is not allowed to touch other players but may make as many funny faces as s/he wishes. Another variation-- Play the same way, but instead of saying "Honey, do you love me?" You can say "Poor poor kitty!!!" If somebody laughs, that person is it. NOTE: This can be played inside or outside
